SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the West Coast District and the interior of the Western Cape as well as the southern parts of Namakwa District, Kareeberg and Kai! Garib Municipalities in the Northern Cape.

ADVISORIES:

  1. A Heat Wave with persistently high temperatures in the western interior of the Eastern Cape from Thursday until Saturday is expected.

GAUTENG:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm but hot in the north.

Ekurhuleni 16-29 Real feel:  33.  Plenty of sunshine

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

MPUMALANGA:

Temperature: Cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the Lowveld.

LIMPOPO:

Temperature: Cloudy in the morning with isolated showers over the Limpopo Valley, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot

NORTH-WEST PROVINCE:

Temperature: Fine, becoming partly cloudy and hot.

FREE STATE:

Temperature: Fine at first, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the eastern parts from the afternoon.

NORTHERN CAPE:

Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the extreme south-west where it will be extremely hot.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong southerly to southeasterly.

WESTERN CAPE:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east and south-east at first, otherwise fine and warm to hot, but very hot in places over the interior. It will become cloudy and cool along the south coast.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly but fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly in the west and south-west.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

EASTERN CAPE:

The Western half – Temperature: Partly cloudy along the escarpment in the morning and warm, otherwise fine and hot to very hot.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly to easterly, becoming fresh east of Cape St Francis in the afternoon.

The Eastern half – TemperatureCloudy and cool with morning fog and drizzle south of escarpment,
otherwise fine and warm to hot. It will become partly cloudy with isolated showers along the KwaZulu-Natal border in the afternoon.

The Eastern half – WindThe wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly.

KWAZULU-NATAL:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but hot in places in the north. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the south-western parts.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable at first, otherwise moderate easterly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
