A Ford Ranger Bakkie was badly damaged after a tractor tyre exploded while being filled with air at a Verulam service station in KwaZulu-Natal. On the video one can see a man on the back of the bakkie pumping the tyre when it unexpectedly explodes causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
A member of RUSA (Reaction Unit South Africa) happened to be on patrol in the area when he heard the explosion. He immediately investigated and established that the driver of a Ford Ranger was busy filling the large tractor tyre with air. The tyre was loaded in the back of the vehicle.
The explosion damaged the bin of the vehicle extensively and shattered the windows. No injuries were reported after the incident.
