Garden Day Recipe – Citrus Beet Salad

Citrus Beet Salad with Roasted Carrots and Goat Cheese

Food always taste better when it is colorful.  This gorgeous colorful citrus salad looks delicious.

Roasted beets, carrots, chickpeas, creamy orange-honey dressing and goat cheese make this a fresh meal in a bowl!

 

Garden Day Recipe – Rainbow of Health

Now this is what we call Rainbow of Health and you can use the veggies from your own veggie garden.

This dish is very colorful and has different textures.

2 carrots, 4 leaves of purple cabbage, 2 large mushrooms, bamboo shoots, spinach and green onions.

Sautéed 1 chopped onion, four minced cloves of garlic, 1 tablespoon of minced ginger, sprinkled paprika, turmeric, lime peel, dry rosemary, salt and pepper to taste.  You can get these from your local Spar

Add the vegetables, mixed and cooked until desired texture.

National Garden Day

Sunday, 11 October 2020 is National Garden Day and tameTIMES would like to celebrate it with you.

Most of the year we plant, water and work in our gardens.  Garden Day is the day where you sit in your garden and reap the rewards of all your hard work.  It does not matter if you have a small or big garden of even just a patio.  Garden day is the day where you put your garden tools down, take your garden gloves off and enjoy your garden.

This year is even more special.  For the last few months, everyone have turned to the gardens to find balance.  Gardening has been proven to boost both mental and physical well-being.  It creates a sense of belonging.  With summer upon us, your garden offers you a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate a season of new beginnings.

Ways to celebrate Garden Day:

  • Enjoy a cup of rooibos tea in your garden.
  • Host a plant swop get together with your friends.
  • Enjoy lunch outside in your garden with ingredients from your garden.
  • Picnic with your family.
