Local News: Ekurhuleni praises local news and radio stations

The City has acknowledged the importance of the local media for vital communication to the community.

By launching the Ekurhuleni Press Club the city is striving to provide all the local media with access of information and to also invest financially without hindering their independence.

The local government wants to elevate the local media and the role they play within their own communities.

The City is aware that with proper communication with local communities this will vastly improve the relationship they have with the local government. The local media is much closer to their communities than the mainstream media and the City wants to utilise this by ensuring the local public stays informed.

The Press Clubs will assist the media by having access to fundamentally important information that the local communities so desperately need. These awareness campaigns will assist the local communities regarding service deliveries and the current Covid-19 pandemic.

During the virtual meeting the City of Ekurhuleni awarded EK FM 1036 radio station for the outstanding role they played in the fight against COVID-19.
