A helicopter has crashed near the N2 highway in Durban. A rescue mission is underway to retrieve crew members who are still entrapped in a helicopter. The helicopter crashed into the Umgeni River by the Umgeni interchange on the N2 northbound.
Garrith Jamieson, advanced life support parademic, said emergency services received numerous calls about the crash off the Umgeni interchange at the N2 bridge.
“At this stage units are almost on scene. The number of casualities or fatalities is still unknown at this stage.”
Kyle van Reenen, from Emger-G Med, said the helicopter is completely submerged in the river.
