BOOYSENS SAPS: Warrant Officer Fanie van Staden obtained a guilty sentence on two more cases.

On Wednesday 2020-02-05 at about 17:00 complainant reported on duty in full uniform as a security officer. The following morning at about 04:00 while busy patrolling in South Dale area, he noticed an unknown male carrying a blue drum and a cable holder. The complainant stopped him and he asked the unknown male where did he get the drum from but he failed to give proper explanation. The complainant took the male back to where he said that he had taken the goods from. When they arrived at the address that the suspect said that he had taken the goods from, the rightful owner was there and he informed the complainant that this was not the first time that the person had stolen from him. The suspect was taken to Booysens SAPS and placed under arrests for theft out of motor vehicle.

The accused was found guilty and sentenced as follows: – imprisonment: 2 years of which 2 years are suspended for 5 years with the choice of: acknowledgement of guilt or bail of R10 000-00

AND

Members from JMPD were on duty around Johannesburg, patrolling in the Aeroton area, they received a call from radio control information them of a suspicious vehicle. They proceeded to the mentioned street and spotted the reported vehicle. The members noticed that the driver was driving recklessly. The members followed the vehicle and the driver and the lost control and over turned. The members checked the occupants inside and they were trying to climb out the vehicle. After he occupants got out the vehicle and it was found that they were not injured, the members did a registration check and found that the vehicle had been stolen in Sophia town area. all the occupants of the vehicle were arrested and taken to Booysens saps were they were detained for possession of stolen motor vehicle and reckless and negligence driving.

One suspect was found guilty and sentences to undergo three years imprisonment of R30 000-00 wholly suspended for 5 years.  The other two suspects were release as it was found that they were in the car as they had asked for a lift.
