Ekurhuleni Covid-19 updated statistics

The City of Ekurhuleni is mobilising all necessary resources, including healthcare practitioners to strengthen efforts to fight the Coivid-19 pandemic. Some of the systems the city has put in place are the ongoing vaccination rollout, screening services, and assisting Ekurhuleni residents with registration for vaccination.

While the country endures fighting the pandemic, the city healthcare team has reported that the hospitals in Ekurhuleni are 71 % full, with Tembisa and Thelle Mogoerane recording more of the recent patients’ intake.

In the past five days, the City’s health team recorded the following COVID-19 statistics:

  • New cases: 2 419
  • Confirmed cases: 147 224
  • Recoveries: 125 675
  • Deaths: 3 269
  • Screening instances: 10 707 513
  • Tests Conducted: 13 0917

The vaccination rollout is as follows:

Pfizer vaccine;

  • Private facilities: 33683
  • Public: 115204

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine;

  • 18051
  • J&J Pfizer total is: 166938

Speaking about these numbers, MMC for Health and Social Services Cllr Nomadlozi Nkosi said, “It is really devastating times that we are confronted with. However, the battle can be won if we are united. We strongly encourage residents who are eligible to register to do so and get vaccinated. Those who are vaccinated are also encouraged to continue adhering to the COVID-19 regulations and protocols.”
