Thick and wonderful potholders. The front is crocheted as a mosaic granny square and results in an incredibly beautiful structure. The back is crocheted as an ordinary granny square. You can crochet the potholders in a double thread of 4 ply DK yarn

Note: Each round that has a ch 3 to start, the starting ch counts as 1 dc.

  1. With Color A. Begin with a magic loop. Ch 3, work 2 dc and ch 2. Work *3 dc, ch 2* Repeat * to* a total of 3 times. End with a sl st.
  2. Sl st to the first ch-space. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) in the ch-space. Work *(3dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) into the next ch-space* Repeat * to* a total of 3 times. End with a sl st. Cut the yarn.
  3. Change to Color B. Attach the yarn in a ch-space. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) in the ch-space. Assembly:
Place the front and back pieces, WS to WS. Attach yarn and crochet them together with a round of sc in each st and ch-space. In the corners, work (1 sc, ch 1, 1 dc) End with a sl st. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends. Attach the leather string for a hanging loop.
