Tuckshop looted and set on fire in Katlehong

On Sunday afternoon, 05 January 2020 a unconfirmed number of of people attacked and looted a tuckshop in Mosikili Street in Katlehong. The shop was allegedly set alight and an employee suffered burns and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

 According to Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, spokesperson for SAPS, the circumstances that led up to the  looting are unclear and thus under investigation.  It is alleged that the tenant of the property housing the tuckshop was also assaulted.

“Gauteng police management have condemned the incident and called for calm. Members or the public are urged to find alternative means to diffuse tensions without resorting to criminality,” said Brig Peters
