The Alberton High School MTB Team officially kicked off their season with the Summer Fast One held at the Rand Water Board grounds on Sunday the 12th of January.
The track is flat and fast with a breathtakingly beautiful part of the track that rides through the Eye of Africa.
There were a few tumbles and unexpected detours along a way but no serious injuries.
There were eight cyclists from AHS that participated on the day and all rode in the 40km race where 432 entries were recorded. The organizers of the event recorded 814 cyclists that rode in the various distances, namely the 70km, 40km, 20km and 3 km for beginners.
The AHS Team can be proud of their times, especially considering that we are just post-Christmas and New Year and training has just started.
Their respective positions were very impressive and we are looking forward to a fantastic MTB season this year with a lot more races and exciting training techniques to hone their stamina and fitness levels.
