On Thursday 4 April, Law enforcement agencies in the South joined hands for scholar patrol awareness outside Sir John Adamson High School in Rifle Range Road.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (both community outreach and operation Region F2), community patrollers, Booysens SAPS and its Sector 3 were out and about on the day ensuring the safety of scholars, especially in minibus taxis and scholar transport.
Every day, millions of learners hoping to better themselves through education, wake up early to get to school.
Scholar transport is a necessary and integral part of the right to basic education.
The National Department of Transport has legislation and regulations in place to help ensure that children get to school safely, in suitable vehicles that are licensed, roadworthy and driven by drivers with professional driving permits.
