The De Freitas Foundation hosted its Christmas lunch for less fortunate children at The Atrium Conference Center in Bedfordview on Sunday, 4 November 2017.
The venue was packed to capacity with over 350 people present. All who attended brought toys for under-privileged children. These toys will be distributed before Christmas.
“Our main objective was to repeat what we did last year; to raise enough money so that we could make up 100 hampers for underprivileged families. We managed to achieve this again this year. The hamper includes a one month’s supply of basic food stuff for a family of four. Thanks to the generosity of many people we have been able to meet this objective,” explained Manny de Freitas. De Freitas said that the monies generated from the auction on the day ensured that there was sufficient funds to finance the hampers. These hampers will also go to poor Portuguese families in Gauteng.
The Christmas lunch included a three course lunch with entertainment by Diana Lee, Choppa and Miguel Pregueiro – all who were very well received by all present. Manny de Freitas said that 100 families will now have a decent Christmas, when before they would not have had food this Festive Season.
